It takes a manly man to be able to sport a pink tunic and still come off as masculine but Erik the Viking seems to be able to make it work. My daughter asked: “Why is that viking wearing a pink dress and ballet shoes?” Well… because he can!

The pirate Muffler Man at the Jolly Roger Amusement park seemed to be pretty well looked after. He was in generally nice shape.

So far, the Muffler Man at Around the World Golf is the only one I’ve seen with eyelashes painted on! He is rumored to be the Bunyan from the 1964-65 World’s Fair in Queens.

I expected to see the Washington, Georgia Muffler Man looking pretty shabby as I made my way towards him. To my surprise he was looking extra spiffy having been recently repainted complete with accented nostrils and ears. My good friend Ed was quick to point out that he also has happy pockets

The Midas Muffler Man stands in a cluster of beautiful fiberglass giants. Not too  many muffler men actually hold mufflers anymore so he’s pretty special. He was apparently won on ebay and transported from Whittier, California to his new home in Unger, WV. in 2004.

The first Muffler Man I photographed was back in March of 2007 while on a cold motorcycle ride around the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts. Now I never leave home on a trip without first checking to see if I’ll be near one. There are only so many left and I want t see them all!

So far we’ve seen Muffler Men in: California, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia
