The peeling paint and battered remains of what is the Angus Motel sign stand just a mile or so down the road from one of Georgia’s only Muffler Men. A 1 star motel with a 2.5 star sign.

The Hi-Lo Cafe sits in the shadow of Mount Shasta in the town of Weed, California. Surely the town must have a constant battle of keeping their town name signs out of the hands of giggling teenagers. We passed through on our motorcycles in June of 2008.

Whenever we pass this sign it just strikes me as a sad shadow of it’s former self. I bet it was a real looker in it’s heyday.
