Sure cement lions have graced the gates of many swanky homes for centuries. But, Thurston and Muffy would probably flip their wigs if they pulled up to their gate to find these two characters watching over their estate. I hope this is a sign of a new trend. Punk rock lions = WIN.

We stopped in to see Lucy one night on our way back to New York. She stood quiet and alone in the February chill. She was one of the the sights on my To-Do List of 2010 and although we didn’t get the opportunity to go inside, I’m glad we visited.
Lucy has a long history – you can read about here on LucytheElephant.org or Wikipedia’s Lucy the Elephant page.

A Talk to Santa speaker, giraffes roaming the landscape, a huge dinosaur coming out of the roof… Dare I say? Best. Car Wash. Ever?
Roadside Animals: Long Island’s OTHER Big Bull – Manorville

When people think of Suffolk County and a giant bull statue, they naturally think of the Smithtown Bull that has stood at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Route 25A since 1941. But, there is another big bull standing on a farm in Manorville. I like him much better!
He looks pretty similar to the one I spotted while in Kentucky!
