Skowhegan Indian Maine

Location: Skowhegan, Maine
Photos Taken: July 2007

I’ve read several sights claiming this to be the world’s tallest Indian. The Skowhegan Indian stands at a height of 62 feet. Made of wood, he stands watch over the town. Created by sculptor Bernard Langlais.

I try to come home to Skowhegan every year. It saddens & angers me to see the condition of our Indian! While growing up in this town, we kids where oblivious to the important part that the Indian plays in the tourism for Skowhegan. I do NOT understand why nothing is being done to maintain the up keep & visibility of an important tourism structure.
